Tumor-associated tissue eosinophilia in preinvasive and invasive squamous cell carcinoma of cervix

چکیده
Background: Differentiating between preinvasive and invasive squamous neoplasms of the cervix can be a challenge in small, superficial fragments cervical biopsy, particularly when inflammatory infiltrates obscure epithelial stroma interface due to tangential sectioning acanthotic epithelium. This study evaluates whether thresholds eosinophils serve as morphological marker for presence tumor invasion cervix. Material methods: Sixty-five cases cell carcinoma neoplasia were evaluated. In each case, number per HPF 10 tissue adjacent neoplastic epithelium was counted. For statistical purposes, elevated categorized > 3 eosinophils/HPF, 5 >10/10 HPF. Results: Stromal present 1/5 LSIL, 3/8 HSIL cases, 15/16 microinvasive carcinoma, 34/36 signifying an increase eosinophil count from spectrum carcinoma. Greater than eosinophils/HPF >10 eosinophils/10 had sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive values 55%, 100%, 75%, 100%and respectively. The difference >5eosinophils/HPF >10eosinophils/10 SIL SCC statistically significant. Conclusions: Our suggests that increased associated with should prompt thorough evaluation evidence is absent.

Tumor-associated tissue eosinophilia in human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
BACKGROUND Inflammatory cell infiltration around the sites of carcinoma invasion is believed to play important roles in carcinoma biological behavior. MATERIALS AND METHODS The status of inflammatory cell infiltration at the sites of frank invasion in 97 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) were examined, with special emphasis on the status of tumor-associated tissue eosinophilia...
متن کاملTissue eosinophilia in oral and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and normal oral and cutaneous tissues
Introduction: Eosinophils produce proteases that stimulate invasion in cancers. Due to the more malignant potential of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) compared to cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), the aim of the present study was to compare tissue eosinophilia between OSCC and CSCC samples to understand whether tissue eosinophilia play a role in different biological...
متن کاملTumour associated tissue eosinophilia as a predictor of locoregional recurrence in oral squamous cell carcinoma
OBJECTIVES The increasing global burden of oral cancer has driven much of the focus of research to the determination of reliable prognostic markers which may have significant effects on survival and the control of post-treatment morbidity. This study was undertaken to evaluate tumour associated tissue eosinophilia (TATE) quantitatively in oral cancer specimens and observe for its possible assoc...
متن کاملAngiogenesis and Tumor-Associated Macrophages in Different Grades of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Verrucous Carcinoma and Epithelial Dysplasia via Immunohistochemical Assessment of Expression of CD34 and CD68 Markers
Background:Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common malignancy of the oral cavity, which is highly invasive. Verrucous carcinoma (VC) is the low-grade form of SCC. Epithelial dysplasia (ED) also has a malignant potential. This immunohistochemical (IHC) study aimed to assess angiogenesis and the presence of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in SCC, VC and ED to determi...
